Vinted Members Share Displeasure Over Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
