The Opening Xbox Game Pass Games of 2026 Demonstrate Xbox Remains Committed.
Everywhere you go, fans keep sounding the funeral bells for the Xbox brand. Microsoft's console just got outsold by a lesser-known competitor. Platform-specific outlets began covering on PS5 topics as a new development. 2025 was an era of significant turmoil for Xbox and Microsoft. But if we're going solely off the upcoming Game Pass lineup in 2026, it's evident that Microsoft continues to plan to attract subscribers with compelling titles on its premier subscription.
The Immediate Additions
A pair of titles that are immediately available at this moment, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, are not the headliners. Instead, the excitement lies in what's arriving to Game Pass over the next few weeks that's truly noteworthy.
Major Titles on the Horizon
Starting January 13th, Game Pass will add the underappreciated Star Wars Outlaws, an open-world game that refreshes conventional open-world tropes with a space-faring criminal escapade. An additional significant inclusion is Resident Evil Village featuring the towering Lady Dimitrescu, which our 2021 review called "a superb mixture of horror and action."
Compelling Indie Titles
However, the more modest titles arriving shortly on the service are quite compelling. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, an unjustly ignored roguelite that is incredibly fun, becomes available next week — and it's worth experiencing regardless of whether you played the first Lost in Random game.
The British post-apocalyptic game from last year could captivate you in about 15 minutes flat.
Atomfall, the stealth survival game by the makers of Sniper Elite, also warrants your attention. Those with the top-tier subscription also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to look forward to.
A Robust Selection of Games
All in all, these aren't the most groundbreaking additions to Game Pass, and they don't represent massive exclusive blockbusters that justify the service alone. But Microsoft's additions here are exceptionally strong. There's a good mixture of older titles you may have skipped and relatively recent releases that didn't get the attention they deserved the first time around — rendering them ideal prospects to experience a revival on Game Pass.
Be prepared to part ways with The Grinch Christmas Adventures, however.
